Damaged Hair? Repair it!

Your hair says a lot when you are trying to make your own statement. You apply hair gel, hair wax, mousse, pomade (pomatum), sprays, volumizers and even color – and there is no saying what condition your hair will end up in, if you do not take proper care of it. Chances are high that your hair may be quite damaged after the continuous application of hair products, and it will require treatment to help your hair retain its luster.

One definite way to help your hair grow thick and lustrous again is to apply a mixture of egg and olive oil to your scalp once a week. (One yolk + two tablespoons olive oil per application) Leave this conditioner in your hair for a couple of minutes, rinse and shampoo. Aloe Vera and mineral oils is also known to help the growth of hair in terms of thickness and shine. A viable alternative would be to apply (massage) the extract of Aloe Vera or these oils into your scalp, which in turn helps rejuvenate your hair shaft, thus adding to the luster of your hair.

Vitamin E also can help repair damaged hair – on a cellular level. By either consuming it orally, or mixing it with your shampoo before application (Open Vitamin E capsules and mix the powder with your shampoo), Vitamin E can provide a lot of nourishment required for thick and lustrous hair growth. Mayonnaise and avocado are also well known home treatments for damaged hair.

If your hair damage is due to hair color, switch to a henna-based (Mehendi) color treatments next time (since they lack ammonia). Henna has been used since long ago to manage dry and dull hair. A regular haircut/ trim to remove the damaged hair and encourage hair growth are also good options to keep your hair thick and shiny at all times. An alternative would be to find yourself a mild hair product with one/ more of the aforementioned ingredients.
